Frequently Asked Questions

What is Permanent Cosmetics?
Permanent Cosmetic Makeup (Micropigmentation, Cosmetic Tattooing and Microblading) is the placement of pigment  just beneath the epidermis into the dermal layer of the skin.  This procedure benefits anyone who wishes to have a natural enhancement to their appearance without the use of makeup.  Other commonly used names for permanent cosmetics are Micro-Stroke Eyebrows, Embroidery Eyebrows, 3-D Eyebrows, Powder Fill Eyebrows, Microblade Eyebrows, Hair-stoke Eyebrows, Eyebrow Tattooing and Eyeliner Tattooing.

What is the process?
I use the state of the art, doctor endorsed Nouveau Contour digital machine as well as Softap and Microblading hand tools.   Topical anesthetics are used to maintain your comfort as iron oxide pigments are implanted into the dermal layer of the skin. Procedures take 1-2 hours. A follow up appointment is scheduled six weeks later to perfect your cosmetic if needed and at no extra charge.

What is Microblading?
Microblading is the latest trend in creating the most natural looking hair-stroke eyebrows. This technique has gained in popularity in other countries and is now being offered in the United States. The natural look is achieved by etching fine hair like strokes into the brows using a hand tool.

How long do Permanent Cosmetics last?
The length of time that a permanent cosmetic lasts differs for everyone due to variations in body chemistry, sun exposure and medications taken.  Although the cosmetic is permanent it will fade as all things do with time.  The best way to prolong the color is to follow after-care instructions, to use sunscreens, and to avoid cleansers and lotions that contain alpha-hydroxy acids, citric acids and retinol products on the treated area.  Color refreshers can be given to restore the cosmetic to its original intensity and costs less than the original procedure. Most clients have color refreshers every 2-5 years.

Is the procedure painful?
There is a minimal amount of discomfort during a procedure. Most clients tell me that they are not uncomfortable at all. Topical anesthetics are applied to the area before and during the procedure to ensure that you have the most comfortable experience possible.

How long does each procedure take?
I book 2 hours for the initial procedure which includes the consultation where both color and design are chosen.   A perfecting appointment is scheduled 6 weeks later if needed and is at no extra charge.  This appointment normally takes about one hour depending on how much touching up needs to be done.

How long is the recovery?
There may be slight swelling or redness after the procedure but this will subside after a few hours, you can resume your normal activities immediately following the procedure.  Your makeup will look a little bolder than you usually wear but within the week it will soften and fade to a more natural look.

Is it safe?
I use all universal precautions and meet the proposed national sterilization standards recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Occupational Standard for Health Association (OSHA).  Only single use sterile needles are used with each client.

How much does it cost?
The procedures vary in price starting at $200.00.  Please see the section on procedures and pricing.
